Táimid, ag Coláistí Chorca Dhuibhne, ag cur an pholasaí seo i bhfeidhm chun go mbeidh gach dalta a fhreastalaíonn ar Choláistí Chorca Dhuibhne ar an riosca is lú maidir le scaipeadh an ghalair Covid-19. Faoi láthair, tá na méadrachtaí ag dul sa treo mícheart. Tá an ráta galraithe ag dul i méid. Is méadrach é seo atá ag gluaiseacht agus athraíonn sé go seachtainiúil ach déanaimid monatóireacht air seo i gcónaí.
Tá go leor dár dTeaghlaigh Gaeltachta idir iad fhéin agus daoine go bhfuil siad ag tabhairt aire dóibh sa chatagóir ardriosca. Is é atá sa pholasaí seo ná a chinntiú go mbeidh na daltaí in ann freastal ar an nGaeltacht ar feadh na tréimhse sin gan an baol a bheith ann go mbeidh briseadh amach iomlán sa choláiste.
Go bunúsach, bhí dhá rogha againn – ár gcoláiste Gaeilge a oscailt do dhaltaí le polasaí Covid-19 nó é a choimeád dúnta .
Bhí go leor cruinnithe fada againn leis na páirtithe ar fad go mbaineann sé leo; Mná Tí, foireann an Choláiste agus ár mBord. Chuir an toradh deiridh sinn ar ár gcumas nós imeachta a leanúint agus bearta a chur i bhfeidhm a chinnteodh an tsábháilteacht is fearr do na daltaí a fhreastalaíonn ó na ceithre chúige éagsúla, tigh a roinnt le timpeall 12 dalta eile atá tagtha ó theaghlaigh éagsúla.
Ní staid gan locht é seo do cheachtar den dá pháirtí agus b’fhearr linn gan a bheith sa riocht sin go gcaithimid na bearta sin a chur i bhfeidhm.
Tá gach coláiste Gaeilge neamhspleách ar a chéile agus tá múnlaí gnó éagsúla acu chomh maith ach is é ár sprioc ná atmaisféar sábháilte le cairdeas, suáilceas, foglaim agus spraoi a chruthú le daltaí eile. Nuair a bhíonn na daltaí ag freastal ar an gColáiste i.e, Ranganna nó ar ghníomhaíochtaí lasmuigh faoin aer, ní bheidh gá le masc a bheith orthu.
Mar sin féin, laistigh de thigh na mBan Tí, tá na mascanna thábhachtach.
Tá go leor cúrsaí beo á reáchtáil againn ón gCáisc agus táimid in ann iad seo a rith gan aon ráigeanna móra de bharr cur i bhfeidhm rathúil ár bpolasaí.
B’fhearr linn go mbeadh cúinsí éagúla ann ach chun fáilte a chur roimh dhaltaí go Gaeltacht Chorca Dhuibhne i rith an tsamhraidh agus ar mhaithe lenár ngnó a choimeád sa tsiúl, tá an gníomh seo de dhíth.
Is cáipéis bheo é an polasaí seo agus déantar athbhreithniú laethúil air. A luaithe is a thiocfaidh laghdú ar fhorleithne ard Covid sa phobal, beimid in ann é sin a leasú.
Polasaí Covid-19 Choláistí Chorca Dhuibhne
Beimid mar choláiste ag cloí lenar bpolasaí Covid-19 agus beidh measúnú riosca á dhéanamh againn go rialta ar rudaí atá bainteach go speisialta le Coláistí Samhraidh.
I rith an chúrsa ba mhaith linn go mbeimis chomh cúramach is gur féidir ag smaoineamh ar dhaltaí eile ar an gcúrsa, ar na teaghlaigh go bhfuil scoláirí ag fanacht ina measc agus ar gach duine eile atá bainteach leis an gcúrsa agus iad sa cheantar.
Níl Covid -19 imithe mar sin is ceart dúinn a bheith cúramach i gcónaí.

We at Coláistí Chorca Dhuibhne are implementing this policy in order to keep all students attending Coláistí Chorca Dhuibhne at minimum risk of transmission from the Covid-19 infection. Currently, the metrics are heading in the wrong direction. The rate of infection is increasing. This is a moving metric and changes weekly however we are monitoring this constantly.
Many of our Bean/ Fear a Tí or those that live with them do fall into the high-risk category. This policy is to ensure the students can attend the Gaeltacht for the duration and reducing the risk of a full breakout in the college.
Simply, we had two options to open our Irish language college to students with a covid policy or to remain closed.
We had many lengthy meetings with all parties involved; Mná Tí, College staff and our Board. The overall end result enabled us to follow a procedure and put measures in place to reduce the risk of the spread of Covid for students attending from four different provinces; sharing a house with approximately 12 students attending from different households.
This is not an ideal situation for either party and we would rather not be in this position where we are faced to put these measures in place.
Each Irish college are independent from one another and also have different business models but our focus is to create an atmosphere of safety, connection, warmth, learning and fun with fellow students. While the students are in the college at classes, ceilí and at activities outside masks will not be required. However, at the Bean a Tí house masks are a requirement.
We have run many live courses since Easter and we have been in a position to run these without any major outbreaks due to the successful implementation of our policy.
I wish our circumstance were different but in order to welcome students to Gaeltacht Chorca Dhuibhne and continue to keep the business running throughout the summer this action is required.
This policy is a live document and it is reviewed daily. Once the high prevalence of Covid decreases in the community we shall be in a position to adjust this.
Covid-19 Policy of Coláistí Chorca Dhuibhne
As a college, we will comply with our Covid-19 policy and we will regularly carry out risk assessment on matters that are particularly relevant to Summer Colleges.
During the course, we would like to be as careful as possible, to think about other students on the course, the families that students are staying with, and for everyone else who is involved in the course while in the area.
COVID-19 is not gone so we should always be careful.
Plan for living with COVID-19 (citizensinformation.ie)
The following are the most important points for our College:
Coláistí Chorca Dhuibhne’s Rules for Covid-19
**Each student will be required to bring 5 antigen tests with them for the course ( two spare tests **
3 Antigen tests will be carried out by the students during the course
Coláistí Chorca Dhuibhne’s Policy
- Bring masks – as they will be required for the Bean/Fear a’ Tí’s house
- Every student will have to bring a certified negative Antigen Test (completed on day of arrival or the evening before) with them on the day of arrival and to show it at the registration. (we also accept valid up to date Covid recovery certs)
- Each student will need to know how to take a Covid-19 test on themselves during the course.
- At present if a student has a positive test, they will have to be collected by a parent/guardian on that day.
- If Bean/Fear a Tí test positive for Covid-19 all students in the house will have to go home on that day.
- We will need to receive a signature from each student and parent/guardian that they are happy to follow these instructions.
- Each student will be required to undergo an antigen test 3 times during the course. These days will be: Day 5, Day 7 and Day 9. This antigen test will be conducted under the supervision of the teacher in the college.
